The goal for this project was to create a bed rack for a 1:10 scale RC truck that wasn’t just a static piece of plastic, but a functional, modular system. Most off-the-shelf RC accessories are one-size-fits-all, which usually means they don’t fit anything perfectly. By designing this from scratch, we were able to ensure that every mounting point for the recovery boards, fuel cans, and chains lined up exactly where they needed to be for a realistic scale look
The process started in Fusion 360, where we broke the rack down into individual components. Instead of printing one large, awkward piece, we designed it as a modular assembly with separate legs, crossbars, and side panels. This approach allowed for much cleaner prints and gave the rack a more industrial, “bolt-together” feel once assembled. After several iterations to get the tolerances right, the parts were printed in high-resolution PLA+, providing enough strength to handle the bumps and rolls of trail driving while keeping the center of gravity low.
If you’re working on a scale build and can’t find the right parts to finish your rig, that’s exactly where we can help. Whether you have a rough sketch or just a specific idea for your truck, message us for custom orders. We can take those ideas, handle the design work, and print a custom setup that’s built specifically for your RC.
